As Converse enjoys some much-needed shine thanks to the long-awaited debut of the SHAI 001, the brand’s lifestyle category is riding on with a Chuck 70 collab by Stockholm’s Our Legacy Work Shop.
This is Our Legacy Work Shop’s first official Chuck 70 collab, but that’s not to say the brand hasn’t dropped Chucks before… if that makes sense. Since 2005, Our Legacy has given new life to old garments by deconstructing them to create unique pieces. Our Legacy dropped a few different custom colorways of the Stüssy x Chuck 70 (style code #A02052C) a few years back, fully dying the upper and adding its signature Yin Yang. Stitched Yin Yangs in place of Converse logos remain a focal point here, with one colorway coming in “Natural Ivory” and the other coming in “Espresso.” That being said, there’s more to love than what meets the eye at first glance.
Our Legacy co-founder Jockum Hallin states: “We’ve created our dream Chuck 70’s by simply adding the human factor, leaning into the imperfections we admire from the Chuck Taylors made in the 1960’s-80’s. We brought back the uneven, hand-pulled foxing tape that comes up slightly higher, the irregular toe bumpers and the shorter toe caps, trying to highlight the beauty in those human made “flaws” that occurred back then.”
