Some sneakers endure because they don’t need to change: The formula is right, so they quietly live on for decades. The Vans Old Skool is one of those. Every now and again, though, the brand tweaks the classic silhouette slightly. With the Vans Old Skool Pearlized “Vintage Cocoa Brown,” they’ve done just that, adding eye-catching accents to an otherwise familiar silhouette.
A cocoa-colored canvas coats the shoe base, bathing it in an earthy tone that feels effortlessly wearable. Suede in a darker brown coats the toe, eyestays and heel, emphasizing an instantly familiar silhouette loved by longtime fans. Pearls and small metallic studs adorn Vans’ signature stripe down the sides, adding texture that plays with light as you move.
Small metallic studs also line the toe and heel for added visual separation on the upper. Cream laces sit over the canvas tongue, while the soft interior lining keeps the palette balanced. Bright white stitching outlines the panels, letting the layered construction stand out a bit more.
Down below, things return to the familiar setup. An off-white rubber midsole with the traditional black foxing stripe wraps the shoe, and the gum waffle outsole finishes the pair with classic Vans grip.
