Vans Premium Authentic ‘Chanel La Habana’ 2026 Release Date

After delivering a one of the most talked-about sneakers of 2025 with the “Souvenir” Old Skool, Vans is keeping the momentum going with more designer-inspired spins on its classic models.

The Vans Authentic Premium will be released Saturday in two new Black/White and Green/Blue styles. Like the Souvenir Old Skool before them, these new Authentic colorways take unofficial inspiration from an iconic Chanel bag, 2016’s La Habana bag. Notable for its sequined detailing and rugged canvas construction, a similar-looking motif has found its way to the classic skate shoe. 

The Autnetic Premium has been covered in metallic sequins at the rear, given a distressed, splattered appearance up front and adorned with numerous keychain and charm accessories. The tongue is stitched with a quilted pattern that’s unmistakably Chanel, while the heel features metal rivets, which are presumably a reference to the bag’s closures. 

Like the Souvenir Old Skool, the upcoming La Habana-inspired Authentics were designed by Greg Betty, former senior footwear designer lead of color and trend for OTW by Vans and Vans Premium. Although his design work is still being introduced at retail, Betty left Vans in April 2025, when he took on the role of senior principal of streetwear concept design for global Jordan at Nike. Betty’s resume also includes stints at streetwear brands Kith and 10 Deep.

Months after the Souvenir Old Skool was released, Nike issued a “Bouclé” Air Force 1 inspired by the same Chanel On the Pavements Messenger bag. However, given the timeline for athletic footwear manufacturing, which typically takes several years to complete, the similarities were more than likely nothing more than a coincidence. 

The upcoming La Habana-inspired Authentics are already creating a considerable amount of buzz on social media, which could very well be an indication that Vans has yet another big hit on its hands.

The Vans Authentic Premium La Habana sneakers will be released Saturday for a retail price of $105 each from vans.com and select retailers. The style codes for the Black/White and Green/Blue colorways are VN000DB8MCG and VN000DB824O, respectively.
