Super Bowl 60 is bringing serious star power, and that includes an early appearance from Green Day.
While Bad Bunny is handling the halftime show and Charlie Puth has national anthem duties, the “Wake Me Up When September Ends” band will take the stage earlier in the day as part of a special opening ceremony honoring the game’s history. If you’re trying to plan your viewing schedule accordingly, here’s what to know.

Where to Stream Green Day’s Super Bowl Performance — and Super Bowl 60
Green Day’s opening ceremony performance will air live on NBC, with Spanish-language coverage available on Telemundo and Universo. If you’re streaming, the ceremony — along with the full Super Bowl broadcast — will be available on Peacock.
Cord-cutters can also watch via live TV streaming services that carry NBC, including YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV Stream, and Sling TV. In other words: if you can stream the Super Bowl, you can stream Green Day.
Will Green Day Perform With Bad Bunny — and Why Are They Playing?
No crossover here. Green Day is not scheduled to perform during the Super Bowl 60 halftime show with Bad Bunny. Their set is reserved exclusively for the opening ceremony.
The performance is part of the NFL’s celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Super Bowl. According to NFL.com, the tribute will honor the league’s history as generations of past Super Bowl MVPs are recognized on the field.
There’s also a hometown connection: Green Day hails from Berkeley, California, just across the bay from Levi’s Stadium, where Super Bowl 60 is being held. The NFL has dubbed the band a “hometown opening act.”
What Songs Will Green Day Play?
Green Day is expected to perform a “selection of their best-known anthems” during the tribute, according to NFL.com.
While an official setlist hasn’t been announced, the band’s biggest hits include “Basket Case,” “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Holiday,” and “21 Guns.”
Who Is Green Day, and What’s Their Biggest Hit?
Green Day is a trio made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool, formed in the East Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area in 1987.
As for their biggest hit, it depends how you measure it. “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 36 weeks on the chart, while “Basket Case” leads on Spotify with nearly 1.5 billion streams, followed by “American Idiot” at 1.3 billion.
“Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends” have also crossed 1 billion streams each.
