Times when an iconic shoe silhouette is put through the crusher always show you how malleable that silhouette really is. That concept is fully realized with the Anonymous Club x Converse Chuck 70. The high-top is pushed into weirder realms while maintaining many of the signature design elements that made the shoe so popular to begin with.
The first drops in Glacier Grey/White-Black and sports a near monotone color scheme that looks almost entirely white from afar. Leather supplants canvas as hidden stitches and angular panels give the shoe upper a very architectural vibe. Three strips of Velcro lace the shoe across the forefoot and an exaggerated strap hugs the ankle, completely morphing the silhouette of a traditional Chuck Taylor into something more sneaker-boot like.
Additional design riffing can be found in the shoes towering collar. Standing taller than your average Chuck 70, the collar slightly flares out giving the shoe a crisper silhouette. Branding is kept minimal and tonal, utilizing a Converse patch on the ankle and repeated Anonymous Club branding down the foxing tape that lines the interior of the shoe’s midsole.
The second pair flips the visual balance. A Black/Steel Grey-White color scheme places smooth black leather across the upper while Steel Grey straps contrast sharply across the forefoot and ankle. Structural stitching, a layered “shoe-within-a-shoe” build, and a chunky Chuck 70 platform sole continue the collaboration’s experimental direction.
