Tyler, The Creator has pushed the Converse Pro Leather in a different direction by changing its shape more than its color blocking. The “White/Red” pair is mostly white leather, with red suede around the branding and a handful of panels. A pre-yellowed midsole adds some age and keeps the shoe connected to the Pro Leather’s 1970s basketball roots.
The wider toe box gives this version a noticeably bulkier front end. Thick laces add to the skate-shoe feel, and the rubber toe shell has been reshaped with a molded star inspired by Converse’s star-and-chevron logo.
There is not much else added to the upper, so the new proportions stay visible. Red suede provides the contrast, while the aged sole keeps the white leather from looking too sharp or new.
The Tyler, The Creator x Converse Pro Leather “White/Red” has already begun showing up at retailers. A wider release through Converse is expected, but an official date has yet to be announced.
