Slam Jam is taking the Vans Slip-On in a mismatched direction, using black-and-white checkerboard canvas on one shoe and red-and-white on the other. The shape stays familiar. Most of the changes come through the finish.
The canvas is distressed, the edges are frayed, and the midsoles look heavily scuffed before the pair ever hits the street. Faded checkerboard graphics run along the sidewalls, mixed with rough black markings and other worn-in details. Stacked Slam Jam and Vans tags sit beneath the elastic panels.
The look ties back to the early-2000s grunge and utilitarian styling used across Slam Jam’s clothing. Rather than changing the Slip-On’s construction, the collaboration gives it a harsher surface treatment and an intentionally uneven color setup.
The Slam Jam x Vans Slip-On is expected to release through Slam Jam stores and online, with Vans Europe also likely to carry the pair. An exact release date has yet to be announced.
